Workshop Saturday

This year we’re devoting a whole day to workshops!

Here’s a quick summary. All workshops are free, but some require you to book a ticket. Just to warn you though, some workshops are running at the same time, so choose wisely. All workshops take place at the Wellgate Shopping Centre, Dundee, DD1 2DB.

Planning Your Climate Change Future
10:00am – 12:30pm
Level 2, Space 4
Led by designer and artist Johanna Hoffman, this workshop will take participants though a series of speculative future scenarios to try to imagine how climate change will impact our lives, families and communities.

Transient Vessels
10:00am – 1:00pm & 1:00pm – 4:00pm
Level 2, Space 3
Multidisciplinary artist Kyle T. McKelvie will lead two sessions on avatar creation. Participants will be able to work together to explore what an avatar is and how they help us express our identities in games and online.

Data Union Fork: Tools For Data Strike
10:00am – 1:00pm
Level 3, Space 5
London-based artist Larisa Blazic will help participants examine what it means to strike in the precarious world of online work, and help develop strategies for collective action.

Social Engine: Virtual Utopia or Virtual Dystopia DROP IN
10:00am – 4:00pm
Level 3, Space 5
With Violeta Vojvodic Balaz, participants will contribute to the HoopUp online database, an art-educational tool that looks at how information flows in society and how we each have a responsibility in shaping what the internet looks like.

Sadly the Cis Penance workshop has been cancelled, but we hope to run it some time in the future.

Alongside these workshops our Activity Room will be open throughout the festival. Drop in to make zines, be creative, and learn more about NEoN digital arts festival!
