Can you help us develop a new interactive experience to tell the stories of women’s healthcare struggles, particularly on the hidden experiences of breast cancer treatment?
Mammary Mountain is an innovative artwork that uses cutting-edge technology, creatively exploring and exposing women’s healthcare struggles, particularly on the hidden experiences of breast cancer treatment. Currently, in development, women’s lived experiences will inform the works’ evolution and contain stories that often go unheard.
Mammary Mountain will be a unique experience set in a doctor’s office. As ‘patients,’ the audience will wear a special haptic jacket, sit in a bespoke chair shaped like mammary glands, and use a VR headset to experience this intimate performance. The work will be a physical artefact exhibition and a digital/ virtual technology experience.
Audiences will be guided through powerful stories of survivors and shed light on the often-unspoken horrors of treatment. This will be done through the beautiful and thought-provoking illustrations and music of Tara Baoth Mooney, alongside 3D and VR art by Maf’j Alvarez and story design by Camille Baker, even feeling the experience through a vibration garment and interactive design.
One of the creators, Camille Baker, will be in Dundee to share this work with us, and to facilitate two workshops designed to explore body meditation, breathing and storytelling.

Camille Baker is an interdisciplinary digital artist, curator and researcher in immersive experiences, participatory performance, VR design, interactive art, SmartFashion and e-textiles, emerging technologies, and digital art curating – across creative disciplines.
Camille presented her new work INTER/her, with NEoN Digital Arts as part of its festival in 2021. INTER/her takes Camille’s personal experience and those of other women who have had post-reproductive diseases and pain to create a Virtual Reality, sound, and haptic*, fully immersive artwork. The work explores the psychological issues of womanhood and the sense of self. INTER/her is based on Camille’s experience and journey through the healthcare system while she was treated for a post-reproductive disease in 2016. The ideas and development of the work emanating from experiencing women’s silence, conflicting information, and inconsistencies in support for women’s health.
The work is also inspired by the stories she heard from friends and family about their reproductive disease experiences, which seemed to be hidden or kept to themselves until she began to speak up about it.
