Cake or Dice, partnered with NEoN Digital Arts and Dundee MakerSpace, will run Dundee’s only Repair and Share cafe. Repair Cafés are meeting places and they’re all about repairing things. In Cake or Dice, you will find folk who can help, and tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. We hope to be able to repair clothes, jewellery, and toys, and we will also help you with your tech settings issues! If you have nothing to repair, you can come in to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee, a slice of cake, or pick up a book, zine, or a board game from our lending library.

Repairs cafes are good for the environment as they reduce waste, promote recycling and reduce carbon emissions. They also help reduce electronic waste, hopefully prolonging the life of technology. We hope that it will also save money, plus empower our community to be more confident in their own skills, and start on their own sustainable journey.

Our first pilot repair cafe runs Saturday 19th October. To prepare for the repairs and prevent overcrowding and queuing, we are taking sign-ups. Please read information below carefully

  • To sign up, send an email to [email protected]
  • In the email, write what object would you like to bring in for repair, and what, best to your knowledge, needs repairing.
  • Unless we have any additional questions, we will email you back with a 30 min time slot for your repair
  • While you can tell us your preferred time, please note that we cannot guarantee a specific time slot. We cannot accept walk-ins.
  • Please note that this is not a drop-off service. Our volunteers are here to show you how to repair your object and hopefully teach you new skills!

Let’s get repairing – we hope to see you there!
