The NEoN team have been busy bees over the past weeks working on this year’s festival line-up. We know that the festival is months away but we have to be quick off the mark if we are to bring you the freshest talent in digital making and design. Although it seems like there is a long time to go until the festival itself, the NEoN beehive is buzzing with plans for lots of activities in the run up to the festival. So, read on to get the lowdown and delve into the NEoN mind as we tell you our plans for the festival this year.
First things first, NEoN 2013 will be held from the 3rd to the 9th November in as many venues and spaces throughout the city of Discovery as we can manage. To reflect the rapidly changing landscape of our city, the theme of this year’s festival will be ‘the spaces in between’ where we aim to explore the space and balance between the historic fabric, urban planning and ‘progressive design’.
During the week of the festival we will bring you an eclectic mix of exhibitions, performance, discussion, making and more. This will include an exhibition at the wonderful Hannah McClure Centre and a NEoN-themed Pecha Kucha night in partnership with those fabulous folks at Creative Dundee. The brilliant Morgan Cahn will undertake a residency during the festival and will be based at the Hannah McClure Centre – check out her work here
Every year we get more excited about what we are planning; we have lots more in the pipeline which we will announce soon. As part of NEoN’s new charity status we are committed to reaching out and working with a diverse range of people from Dundee, starting off with a digital making event for 16+ using Arduino boards!
As always if you would like to get involved with NEoN or fancy just visiting us for a chat, give us a shout! We are always looking to make new connections and enlist new recruits into the NEoN fold – the best way to do this is via email: [email protected] .You can also follow us on Twitter @weareneon
