Enterprising NEoN

Interactive Tayside and the NEoN festival have been short listed as a finalist for this year’s Enterprising Britain competition. The Scottish regional award ceremony takes place on the 12 July, where the winner and the runner up will be announced, the winners from the regional rounds than have the opportunity to pitch to the national judges in August.

Enterprising Britain is a national competition to find the most enterprising place in the UK – a location where enterprise is creating jobs and transforming communities.

This is the award that celebrates local success. Whether through social cohesion, start-up business support, enterprise skills or championing enterprise in the community, the Enterprising Britain competition recognises and rewards local organisations that have worked together to drive the social and economic transformation of a place.

NEoN has been short listed for playing a part in social cohesion, bringing together 13 major partners from across the city.  The NEoN festival has brought together the public sector, small and medium businesses, academic and freelance artists, making it a very wide ranging cross sector enterprise; this celebration shows the commitment to helping develop the right support for the digital media and gaming sectors. NEoN is proud to be offering over 97 participation opportunities for the local community; these include 20 work placements during planning stages and 30 volunteer posts during the festival week.

We believe that NEoN Digital Arts Festival deserves to be a winner of Enterprising Britain, as it will provide a significant boost to the image and perception of Dundee. It will send a message of support to the people who populate the city and beyond, proving that the region has a lot to offer and worth fighting for.

Fingers crossed…
