This session will look at the evolution of technology and its cultural impact.
From the revolution of Gutenbergs printing press, through motion pictures and broadcasting, to digital technologies and the world wide web, we will start by taking a trip down memory lane then analyse the current position of artists in this digital era.
We will discuss how artists successfully utilise and manipulate technology but also the detrimental effects of outsourcing the responsibility of online hosting and IP issues surrounding publishing material on the web.
