Cateran Ecomuseum Partnership

Without the water that runs through the great Tay river catchment system, the food that the farmers of these lands provide us with, and the people who travel from Alyth, Blairgowrie and beyond to work in our hospitals, businesses and universities everyday, Dundee wouldn’t exist.

So we’ve been building relationships for a while in Eastern Perthshire and Western Angus, recently renamed ‘Cateran Country’, co-producing cultural projects with Cateran’s Common Wealth (www.commonculture.org.uk) and now the Cateran Ecomuseum, (www.cateranecomuseum.co.uk) – a new museum in the landscape, where all of its sites, from pre-history until the present day are outside.

This year we’re helping create the launch programme for the Cateran Ecomuseum, bringing our digital arts expertise into the design of three outside installations in Alyth, Blairgowrie and at the Spittal of Glenshee. Each of them is being made collaboratively between some exciting Tayside artists, including Dundee’s very own Biome Collective and young folk from Cateran Country. And it will all be taking place during the week of NEoN 2019!

We’ve called the programme ‘No Boundaries’ because we want to promote the interdependence and interconnectedness we have with the land and the people outside the political boundary of our City of Dundee.

We’re super excited to be expanding into another part of Tayside and can’t wait to share the new programme with you all!
