As a prelude to this years NEoN festival we are pleased to be hosting glitching, a project by Beverley Hood, that brings together exciting dance work and computer glitches.
As an artist Beverley is interested in what she calls ‘glitch choreography’ that attempts to re-describe the movement derived from gaming characters.
glitching is a digital dance performance led by Beverley and performed by Tony Mills, Hannah Seignior and Felicity Beveridge, with a soundtrack composed by Martin Parker. The performance is inspired by the glitches and malfunctions of characters in sports and action computer games. After the performance the audience will be invited to step into the digital shoes of the dancers and follow the movements of the on-screen dance troupe.
glitching will also be presented as part of NEoN’s closing party where the audience will be able to perform freestyle moves to the sounds of multi-tracked vocals and vintage synthesizers.
The project is funded by an Artist Commission from the Scotland and Medicine Partnership for the Human Race exhibition. Additional funding has been provided by Creative Scotland and Edinburgh College of Art.
