This workshop for artists, technologists and theorists with Ruth Catlow takes a pragmatic approach to building technical and economic capacity in the arts starting with the arts lab. This will involve an introductory conversation about how blockchain technologies are developing in the arts and to contribute to thinking about a future infrastructure for art making.
The DAOWO series is devised by Ruth Catlow (Furtherfield) and Ben Vickers (Serpentine Galleries and unMonastery) in collaboration with the Goethe-Institut London, and the State Machines programme.
Its title is inspired by a paper written by artist, hacker and writer Rob Myers called DAOWO – Decentralised Autonomous Organisation With Others.
Artists, musicians, technologists, engineers, and theorists are invited to join forces to understand how blockchains might be used to enable a critical, sustainable and empowered culture, that transcends the emerging hazards and limitations of pure market speculation of cryptoeconomics.
This workshop is part of the DAOWO blockchain laboratory and debate series for reinventing the arts.
