Awe and Animation – a talk by Michael Frederickson, Lead Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios

NEoN Digital Arts Festival is very excited to partner with Weave by Abertay to welcome Michael Frederickson, Lead Technical Director at Pixar Animation Studios, to deliver a live-streamed talk following the Atmosphere screening of Coco.

Michael, who worked on films including Toy Story 3, Inside Out and Coco, will discuss the power of creating a sense of awe in animation. What happens when our minds are blown by a movie? How can this feeling of awe impact our evolution as humans and instil empathetic values?

Through this talk we will explore the power of story-telling, the narrative arc, emotional journeys and the human experience.
